Introduction to Physics

Sophia Learning’s Introduction to Physics course introduces the core ideas that explain how the physical world works, with an emphasis on everyday phenomena and real-world applications. Students will explore motion and forces, energy and momentum, and the properties of matter, building a foundation for understanding everything from vehicle safety and sports to materials and machines. The course also covers electricity and magnetism, waves and light, and selected topics in modern physics to show how physics connects to technologies such as power systems, electronics, medical imaging, and communication tools. Throughout the course, learners will connect observable, macroscopic behavior to the microscopic models and laws that describe it, developing the ability to interpret physical situations and reason with physics concepts across a wide range of contexts.
